【摘要】:InthePIARCInternationalExperiment(13)itwasfoundthatthevolumetricmeantexturedepth(MTD)washighlycorrelatedtothespeedconstantoftheInternationalFrictionIndex.IthasbeenfoundthattheaverageoftheMPDvaluesfortheeightsegmentsusingtheCTMeterisextremelyhighlycorrelatedwiththeMTDandcanreplacethevolumetricmeasurementfordeterminationoftheMTD(2).TherecommendedrelationshipfortheestimateoftheMTDfromtheMPDbytheCTMeteris:whenMTDandMPDareexpressedinmillimetres,or:whenMTDandMPDareexpressedininches.Note18212;TheseequationsdifferfromthosegiveninPracticeE1845,whicharefortheestimatedtexturedepthsfromlinearprofiles.ComparisonoftheMPDandtheRMSforasurfaceprovidesinformationofthenatureofthetexture,thatis,whetherthetextureispositiveornegative(3).Analysisoftheindividualsegmentscanbeperformedtoexaminetheprofileparalleltothedirectionoftravel(segmentsAandE)andperpendiculartothedirectionoftravel(segmentsCandG).Thisinformationcouldbeparticularlyusefulinthestudyofsurfacesthathavetexturewithsignificantdirectionalcharacteristics.1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheprocedureforobtainingandanalyzingpavementmacrotextureprofilesusingtheCircularTrackMeter(CTMeter).1.2TheCTMeterconsistsofachargecoupleddevice(CCD)laser-displacementsensorwhichismountedonanarmthatrotatessuchthatthedisplacementsensorfollowsacirculartrackhavingadiameterof284mm(11.2in.).1.3TheCTMeterisdesignedtomeasurethesamecirculartrackthatismeasuredbytheDynamicFrictionTester(DFTester).1.4TheCTMetercanbeusedbothforlaboratoryinvestigationsandinthefieldonactualpavedsurfaces.1.5ThesoftwaredevelopedfortheCTMeterreportstheMeanProfileDepth(MPD)andtheRootMeanSquare(RMS)valuesofthemacrotextureprofiles.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSI(metric)unitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsarerationalized,ratherthanexactmathematicalconversions.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
