【摘要】:Significance8212;Thedataobtainedfromacompressiontestmayincludetheyieldstrength,theyieldpoint,Young''smodulus,thestress-straincurve,andthecompressivestrength(seeTerminologyE6).Inthecaseofamaterialthatdoesnotfailincompressionbyashatteringfracture,compressivestrengthisavaluethatisdependentontotalstrainandspecimengeometry.Use8212;Compressivepropertiesareofinterestintheanalysesofstructuressubjecttocompressiveorbendingloadsorbothandintheanalysesofmetalworkingandfabricationprocessesthatinvolvelargecompressivedeformationsuchasforgingandrolling.Forbrittleornonductilemetalsthatfractureintensionatstressesbelowtheyieldstrength,compressiontestsofferthepossibilityofextendingthestrainrangeofthestress-straindata.Whilethecompressiontestisnotcomplicatedbyneckingasisthetensiontestforcertainmetallicmaterials,bucklingandbarreling(seeSection3)cancomplicateresultsandshouldbeminimized.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertheapparatus,specimens,andprocedureforaxial-loadcompressiontestingofmetallicmaterialsatroomtemperature(Note1).Foradditionalrequirementspertainingtocementedcarbides,seeAnnexA1.Note18212;Forcompressiontestsatelevatedtemperatures,seePracticeE209.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
